Her elder siblings contributed towards the family’s upkeep. As such, she could not pursue her studies beyond High School. So at age Beng went to Manila to work as a helper for 1 yr then as a factory worker for another 9 yrs. She sent her earnings home for the family. Then in , at age she came to S'pore. Been here ever since with 2 Filipino families & a British family for a combined total of 5 yrs. She comes across as good with kids; assists in their studies, teaches them to be independent. Says she enjoys looking after kids "not bec she's being paid but because she really loves them". So far she’s been supporting her mum and nephews and has also bought a rice field & built her very own home for her future which she is paying for every month. Wishes to work another 4 yrs then go back, settle down and start a rice trading business. She has a very warm and friendly disposition. Currently she’s working with another helper in the house. They are able get along well and in fact, Beng goes out of her way in assisting the other helper in her duties too whenever she is overloaded.
