Rowena is a 43yo Filipino domestic helper. She is blessed with 4 children aged 24yo (girl), 18yo (boy), 17yo (boy), 10yo (girl) who she took care of when they were newborn babies. Rowena is currently staying at home to spend time with her children. While at home, Rowena occasionally works part-time as a cleaner in her neighbor's house to help support the family. Her husband works as a car painter, but his income is low, which makes it challenging to meet the family's financial needs. Therefore, she wishes to work in Singapore to help support her family.
Dec 2014 to Jan 2019 (5yrs & 1mo) Dubai: Rowena worked in Dubai for a local family of 5, which included 3 boys aged 13yo, 11yo, and 10yo. The family lived in a 3-storey house with 5 bedrooms and employed 2 helpers, including Rowena.
In addition, she managed general household chores such as cleaning, ironing, laundry, washing, and gardening. The other helper, an Indonesian, was primarily in charge of cooking. She was also responsible for pet care, attending to 2 cats, 3 dogs, 5 chickens, and 2 monkeys - feeding them, cleaning their areas, and bathing the dogs. Rowena completed her contract and returned home as there was no one to care for her own children.
May 2021 to Jun 2023 (2yrs & 1mo) Hong Kong: Rowena worked in Hong Kong for a Chinese family of 4, which included 2 children - a 5yo boy with special needs and 8yo girl. The family lived in an apartment with 2 bedrooms and Rowena was the sole helper in the household. Her primary responsibilities focused on childcare, including accompanying the younger child to school, engaging in playtime, assisting with homework, and helping him change clothes. In addition to childcare, Rowena managed general household duties such as cleaning, marketing, ironing, laundry, and cooking. She completed her contract but did not continue with the employer as the family relocated to China.
Aug 2023 to May 2025 (1yrs & 9mo) Hong Kong: Rowena worked in Hong Kong for a Chinese family of 4, with 2 daughters aged 6yo and 8yo. The family lived in an apartment with 2 bedrooms and Rowena was the sole helper in the household. Her main responsibilities included childcare, such as preparing food and lunch boxes for school, sending the children to the school bus, assisting with homework, and helping them change clothes. She also managed general household tasks including cleaning, laundry, cooking, and car washing.
