In the beginning, she worked alongside another Indonesian helper, but after five months, the other helper left, and Karen May became solely responsible for managing all the household duties. Her employer lived in a spacious three-story landed house with several rooms and five toilets.

From 2015 to 2019, she worked in Saudi Arabia for an Arabic family. Her male employer had three wives and a total of 16 children. All three wives lived together in a large five-story house with 20 rooms and 20 toilets. Karen May worked alongside five other helpers, each assigned to assist one of the wives and their children. Karen May was assigned to the third wife, where she was responsible for maintaining cleanliness, caring for the children, and managing daily household routines.

She made sure the assigned areas of the house were always tidy and organised, prepared clothes and uniforms for the children, and assisted in meal preparation. Karen May also helped in baking bread and pastries for the family, showing her versatility in the kitchen.

During her four years of employment, she proved herself to be hardworking, trustworthy, and adaptable to a large household setting. Working in a multi-helper and multi-family environment taught her how to coordinate tasks efficiently, respect cultural differences, and maintain good teamwork and communication with her co-workers. The family lived in an apartment with three rooms and two toilets. Karen May was the only helper in the household, so she was fully responsible for managing all household duties and ensuring that everything was well-organised and properly maintained.
