Marie Joy worked as a housemaid for a Filipino family with one newborn baby girl. The family lived in a bungalow house with 2 bedrooms and 1 toilet. She was the only helper in the household.

Her main responsibility was assisting the 22-year-old son with his medical needs, including insulin injection, preparing his meals, organizing his clothes, and assisting with his medication.

She also performed general household duties such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and ironing.
