2006: She has worked 2 weeks with a Chinese family living in flat. It is the first time that she is working overseas and needed time to adjust. Her household duties include cooking, grocery shopping and cooking.

2004-2005: She has worked 1 year with an Indian family living in condo. Employer left Singapore. The family has a pet dog. Her household duties include cooking, grocery shopping and general housekeeping.

2008-2009: She has worked 1 year 2 months with a Norwegian family living in condo. Her household duties include cooking and general housekeeping. The family went back to Norway.

2009: She has worked 3 months with a French family living in condo. Her employer has gone back to France. Her household duties include cooking, grocery shopping and general housekeeping. The family do not need a full time helper as they moved into a small apartment.

2011-2012: She has worked 8 months with an American family living in condo. The family went back to US. Her household duties include grocery shopping, cooking and general housekeeping. She speaks English and reads it very well and understands some Mandarin. There are 2 helpers in the home because they care for a person who has dementia and mobility has to be guided.  Cleaning of the house is daily and watering of the garden is daily. She is neat and tidy and clean. I have provided a cleaning schedule that she follows. She is driven to the wet market weekly and supermarket bi-weekly. When I am unable to drive her, she will take a bus to the market and grab home. She would look at the pricing in the supermarket and select items of the better pricing. Eg. Melanie is able to learn very quickly. My communication and instruction to her is mainly over whatsapp. She goes out 2 Sundays a month even though she is allowed to go out every Sunday if she wants to. She comes home punctually by 6pm. Melanie has shown interest to work and have an income to support her family. She goes on home leave once in 2 years and has come back every time as agreed upon. Melanie is a helper who can work well independently.
