Her duties included childcare, ensuring the youngest child was bathed, fed, and engaged in play, as well as assisting the older children in preparing for school. She also prepared breakfast and packed lunches, often cooking meals like steamed vegetables, fried chicken, congee, and soups—favorites of the children. In addition to general housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, and grocery shopping, Ritchel was responsible for feeding 3dogs/ 3 birds/ chickens. She also handled car washing for two vehicles and maintained the household and watering/sweeping/weeding the garden.   She was not able to cope with the chores and her employer sent her back.
