Despite the hardships, she remained determined to improve her life and that of her family.

She completed her secondary education at Mangaldan National High School in 2001 and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. However, due to financial constraints, she was only able to study for one year before deciding to seek work to support her family.

Her journey began locally as a factory worker, but it wasn’t long before she turned to domestic work—first in the Philippines, then abroad.

Her maid employment experiences are:

PHILPPINES (2003 – 2004), she took her first job as a domestic helper in the Philippines. She worked for a Filipino family, living in a four-room bungalow, and her main responsibility was caring for a 70-year-old elderly woman with a medical condition. It was a meaningful experience that taught her patience and attentiveness in caregiving.

SINGAPORE ( June 2010 – Apr 2022) Precilda took a leap of faith and moved to Singapore—a place that would become her second home for the next 13 years. Her first employer was a Chinese family living in a spacious five-bedroom landed property. The household included a couple, their three young children (ages 6, 4, and 1), and three dogs. She worked as an all-around helper, performing household duties such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, marketing, cooking, pet care, car washing, and childcare.

SINGAPORE ( October to December 2022), she worked for another Chinese family in a five-bedroom condominium. This time, she was part of a two-maid household and was specifically assigned to cooking for the couple—a task she handled with skill and care.

SINGAPORE ( December 2022 – December 2023), she transferred to an Indian family living in a four-bedroom HDB flat. The family consisted of a couple and their two adult children. Once again, Precilda took on the role of all-around helper, managing the household and caring for the family’s dog.

SINGAPORE ( Apr 2024 – June 2025) was her most recent employment began, when she joined another Chinese family living in a large three-storey, nine-bedroom landed home. The family included a couple and their three children (ages 12, 10, and 8). She worked alongside another helper, sharing responsibilities such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, marketing, cooking, childcare, and car washing.

Now back in the Philippines, Precilda is currently a stay-at-home wife, managing her own household while waiting for her next opportunity abroad.

Through the years, she has developed a deep preference for caring for children.

While she enjoys childcare, she is also open and willing to care for the elderly, and is prepared to receive training for direct nursing care, if needed.

In the kitchen, Precilda is skilled in preparing and cooking Filipino and Chinese dishes, and she is always open to learning new recipes.

Maria Divina Benabese Dela Cruz was born and raised in the quiet town of Angadanan, Isabela, in the northern part of the Philippines.

She finished her secondary education at Angadanan National High School in 2001. Like many young dreamers in her province, she had ambitions of earning a college degree and pursued a course in Computer Studies. Unfortunately, her college education was cut short due to financial difficulties. But what Divina lacked in resources, she made up for with determination and sacrifice. They are blessed with three children, now aged 16, 7, and 5, who serve as her greatest motivation. With a growing family and rising expenses, Divina made the life-changing decision to work abroad in hopes of giving her children a better future.

Her journey as a domestic helper began,

HONGKONG (2009 – 2011). There, she worked for a Chinese family in a large, three-storey, five-bedroom home. The household included a couple and their three children, ages 17, 15, and 5. She worked alongside two other maids, and together they managed the household chores and took turns looking after the children. It was her first experience abroad, and though the work was demanding, she embraced every responsibility with patience and grace. She lived with them in a 3-bedroom HDB flat and served as an all-around helper, doing all the household chores except cooking. Her primary focus was caring for the children, especially the infant, which further strengthened her skills in baby care.

HONGKONG (May 2016 – Dec 2017), she returned to Hong Kong, this time to assist an elderly couple aged 89 and 87. Though both were still mobile, they needed help with daily routines and maintaining their home. Divina shared the responsibilities with another helper, and together they made sure the elderly couple lived comfortably and safely.

Since returning to the Philippines, Divina has remained productive. While waiting for a new job opportunity in Singapore, she helps her husband with farm work and has started a small home business producing and selling dishwashing soap. She continues to be an example of resilience and creativity, always finding ways to support her family.

With over four years of international experience, Divina has grown confident in handling newborns, toddlers, and school-aged children. She is skilled in preparing meals, feeding, bathing, changing clothes and diapers, and providing age-appropriate educational activities. She also enjoys household work, especially cleaning and organizing. She can cook Filipino dishes and has picked up basic Chinese recipes, with a strong willingness to learn more, including other foreign cuisines.

In addition to her domestic skills, Divina is open to doing gardening, pet care, and car washing, if required.
